U.S. Overdose Deaths Fell Again in 2025, But Some Worry About New Drug Supply Changes

Citing a recent CDC report, the Washington Times echoes that 2025 saw a 14% drop in overdose deaths compared to the previous year (2024). While the numbers are trending in the right direction, the drug supply continues to grow more dangerous. Newer substances are already showing up, with some being reported as up to 10 times stronger than fentanyl.
